FL, I'm not sure about the 12AY7, you may be correct. What I do know, from my own (almost disasterous) experience, is that subbing a 5965
for a 12AT7 turned out to be a big mistake. And I later found out why when I did some searching here in the forum. So more info is here, if you want to look for it.
