Unless you can get a pair of 5930 cheaply, I wouldn't bother. I purchased some a few years back before they became a curiosity, but never really cared for their "sound".I beleive that the ones that I have use the dual parallel plate construction (hard to see through the dark glass), not sure if they had another version. I can't say that they actually "sound" bad, but just about every other 2a3 that I have sounds better.Maybe it's that psychoacoustic phenomenon at work--- ugly tube= bad sound? , just my two cents, regards, wpod ps- amps were Wright 2a3 monos, Welborne Moondog clones, and homebrew. YMMV
