I just resurrected a pair of Heathkit WA-1 and one of them had been converted to run 6l6s. At the time, I didn't own any 807 tubes but I did have a few 6BG6 which is an 807 "equivalent" but with an octal base. While I was waiting for the 807s to arrive, I rewired the octal sockets to try the 6BG6. This is a sweet sounding tube with very rugged construction and it is dirt cheap as well. I haven't tried them wired for triode yet, but have heard good things about triode wired 807s, so I hope the 6BG6s perform as well. Have fun! regards, wpod
