Stock Cary V12R EL 84s are JJ. I have used EI that were OK, but my present Mullards are better. Its the 12BZ7s that are a greater influence on sound. Best are Raytheons or black plate GE. RCA are decent too. I am currently using Groove Tube E34LS power tubes. It also sounds good with EH EL34s.
