Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ

Yes you can!!

I posted this tip earlier on this forum, but don't mind doing it again. So far, it works on all NOS tubes. The magic potion is NAPHTA aka Ronsonal Lighter Fluid available at your corner liquor store! I know, I know, it don't sound right!! What can I say? Try it yourself -- put a little on a Q-Tip and test a spot. For a really grungy tube like you describe, I moisten a cotton ball and just wash the glass down from top to bottom all around. Finish up by dampening a small piece of sponge, or better, a small piece of Mister Clean Magic Eraser, with a little Tarnex. Push/twist the tube's pins into the soft material (ME is a little like styrofoam) and then CAREFULLY rinse ONLY THE PINS (don't get a DROP of water anywhere NEAR the label) and blot the pins dry with a piece of tissue. I'm pretty sure you'll love the results ;--)) Good luck!

Neil
