I ain't joking. The Minimax throws a great big soundstage with the stock tubes. The mullards and Tels sounded nice, smooth with better tone than the stock tubes but the soundstage wasn't nearly as 3D(deep)and they lacked the dynamics. This also included a set of those Pope labled Amperex 12AX7s I got from Upscale. The GTs had it all. They were just as smooth, and extended as the Tels, but had all the soundstage and dynamics of the stock tubes. It just proves that even the best NOS tubes are application dependant. In the Minimax, one tube must be primo with balanced sections because it is the power tube with each tube section powering a different channel. The other two tubes can just be a balanced pair since they are buffers. I purchased each set new just for this application. These tubes were NOT cheap
