Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |
|
Now that GEO has told us that Cary sucks, and we have small reproductive organs, let's get back to business. I have been through the Tube forum searching for a firm recomendation for a NOS tube set for the "98". I did discover that a GTA or GTB in the rear tube sockets works better, or maybe better than microphonic tubes. Fooling around, I tried 4 6SN&W Sylvanias. WOW!! When I could fix the noise from the rear tubes by seating them firmly it was heaven. GTA and GTB Sylvanias in the rear slots with tall bottle "W"s in front are almost as good. Should I be trying RCAs ? What?
Four EH 6SN7s were not bad , but lacked the air, soundstage and presence of the NOS Sylvanias.
