Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |
|
I bought a Cary SLP 98 a few weeks ago, and have been sampling some VT 231s, Ken Rad and Sylvania. Also tried the EH 6SN7s which were not bad. Then last night I began to try the ANOS quads I bought from my favorite tube seller, Fletch. The first quad was the Sylvania 6SN7W black base. I had a noise problem that I solved, (not quite seated ) and noticed the microphonics. After a warmup, I put a big band Reference CD in my 308T , hit play and was blown away. I had great soundstage before, but never presence like this.
Does the microphonic condition add to the sound? What other microphonic tubes should I try?
