Recently, I bought a new Cary SLP 98 preamp that takes four 6SN7s. I have bought tubes for the first time from Electron Valve, and SND tubes. I also bought tubes from Tube World and James Fletcher. The two latter sellers have been my sources for years and although not cheap, give you great value for your $$$. After reading Robert's post, I interrupted my breakin cycle of the 98 just to test the Electron Valve tubes. Running the Sylvania VT231 pair and the Hytron 6SN7GT pairs each for two hours, I am very pleased. Both pairs got better the second hour as NOS tubes do. They were also quiet, not microphonic. I'm about to run the pair of KenRad US Navy 6SN7GTs, but felt that I had to post my experience with Electron Valve. The other pair of tubes used for these tests on the back positions were EH 6SN7s.
