I have tried Elite gold EI, and Brimar NOS EL84s as well as the standard EI that came with my V12i conversion. None made any difference in sound that I could hear. The 6922s did make a large difference while mine was an "i" . Siemens NOS CCa and "falcon" 1960s 6922s were very nice.
