always give them 10 to 20 hours of use before trying something else.Remember the "N" in NOS stands for "new". New tubes need time to break in and settle down. Also when changing tubes, take the time to tighten and clean tube sockets, otherwise you will get noises that are not the tube's fault.
I have never heard a 5814 that I liked as much as a good, clean well selected CV4003, even my triple mica Seimens, none of which can compare to an Amperex/Bugle Boy/Phillips "halo" or "D" getter 7316.
