I use the 2002 pre also. Over the years, I have tube rolled it . You need to replace the 12AU7/5814s with Mullard CV 4003s(good) of good quality from a good dealer like Upscale. For best results with this tube, Amperex/Bugle Boy 7316 is the trick. Halo getter 7316 is good, but D getter is a touch better. You will not believe the sound from the headphone output when you change these tubes.
The standard Sovteck 6922s suck. A good, but a touch lean replacement is Telfunken 6DJ8s. I used them for a long time before moving to Amperex early 1960 "halo" PQ 6922. Tried a pair of D getter Amperex 6922s last night, and they were a touch jucier and had a little more air.
You have killer amps, the pre is good, just needs a little tuning. If you have the funds, you might get a pair of each and tune it to your system. E me if you want to find a good tube dealer (not me).
