It has nothing to do with expectations.
The operating point will not allow a 100 volt peak to peak swing. That's just a fact.
At lower swings there WILL be a large amount of harmonic distortion. That's just a fact.
Are you asking me to listen to large amounts of harmonic distortion to make sure I don't like harmonic distortion?
OK, I'll give it a try.
Tried it, don't like it. Time to move on, building amps without large amounts of harmonic distortion.
I don't need to listen every time to tell if there is going to be large amounts of harmonic distortions.
I can SEE that by looking at the plate curves and operating points.
