RE: Best use of KT120s?

Eli,

I've often read your posts denigrating the KT120 power tubes here on the Asylum. That's fine, everyone has a right to their opinion but I'd like to know how you've arrived at yours.

With all due respect, have you actually spent a reasonable amount of time listening to several amplifiers with KT120's vs other power tubes in those amps before coming to your opinion, or is your opinion based on plate curves, graphs, and specs that you've read on paper? Are all the designers from companies like ARC, Cary, Rogue (just a few for example) wrong or do you know something that they don't know?
