I had the same problem with the EH's. Tubes running away. Different sockets. I beat my head trying to trouble shoot my amp. Finally sent the tubes back to EH. They sent me a new quad. Same problems. Spent more time trouble shooting my amp. Finally switched the tubes into a newly rebuilt 500c. Same problem! Aha! It is not the amp. It was the tubes. I'll never buy EH's again. $80 wasted.
