Bought a 302B myself a few months back. Folks here made some good recs and I wound up with Svetlana EL-34s and Ei for the AX7 and AT7s. My only basis of comparison is with the stock Chinese tubes and this is my very first tube amp, so take my comments for what they're worth. Generally, I think the stock Chinese seemed to spotlight the mids to an slightly unnatural extent (though some might find this "fun") and the treble was just a tad ragged or hashy. The Svet/Ei combo seems generally more balanced across the spectrum, more buttoned-down, slightly more conservative in their approach to presenting music. More consistently enjoyable. Seems all we should expect for $75 total, no?
