302a (we compared them with my Mullard XF1's and 2's). I cannot remember the signal tubes used, so no comment.The Svet's were not quite as involving as the Mullards, but otherwise were close in tonal balance. Never heard JJ's, EH's and EI's.
Based on current NOS prices I would opt for new production tubes if in your shoes. Most people now know that many of the old RCA's are Mullards and the prices reflect this.
Never cared for the later Mullards in Dynaco gear (probably why they are cheaper).
