JJ-- He uses them in a hifi setup. He has a Conrad Johnson MV52 (I think; I'm an ARC guy-- it's a CJ EL34 amp which has an MV prefix) driven by a CJ preamp-- again, I think it is a PV10, but I don't know. He bought it new in the mid 1980s. He uses Altec 820 speakers (2X model#416 15" LF drivers per cabinet and an 802 compression horn affixed to a 211 (511?) horn). His signal source is a Sota Sapphire with a Grado cartridge(not sure which). Interconnects and speaker cables are Cardas twinlink. He always dismissed Mullard, Dutch Amperex, and Telefunken Pentode EL34s, opting for US Sylvania beam tetrodes; he claimed that in this amp they offered a harmonic richness and depth of soundstage unattainable with the pentodes. As supplies of the US 6CA7 dried up, he went to a quad of JJ; he found them, in his words, "bloated and imprecise." He too found Svetlanas much better. He has only had the EH 6CA7s for a short time, but he LOVES them. His CJ amp has this thing (pretty technical terminology, eh?) for biasing where a red LED lights when that tube is biased properly, so he doesn't tweak the bias. He loves the EH beamies in this app, claiming that they don't over-emphasize the somewhat Euphonic qualities of his analog source. Chris
