I've swapped between 6550s and KT88s in CJ amps since the MV-75 I bought in the late 1970s (and still have). Both tube types I've used w/o issue in MV-75s, a Prem 11A, and Prem 12s. As a note, perhaps useful, perhaps not, I recall Mr. Bill Thalmann (long-time engineering director at CJ) telling me that the Prem 8/11/12 running 480V on the plates and the MV-75 running 560V.
The bias issues I've had are situations where I can't get an adjustment LED to turn off or on (well, yeah, right?), but this hasn't tracked to whether a tube is a KT88 or a 6550.
