No problems with getting the soldering iron out and I agree that a higher possible bias wouldn't do any harm (providing I'm careful). I'll pull the bottom plate off later, but what would you suggest dropping the values to? I did look for a schematic but couldn't find one anywhere. Assuming they're 18k at the moment, would about 12k be OK?
