Re: Still can't decide what amp to buy?

Hi, Franco. I see that you are still can't decide which amp to buy. That's okay it took me almost 3 months til I finally decide to buy my current amp.

I see that you want to make a move from ss to tube for your system. I asume that you have listen to tube before. Have you heard tube with your system before? If not have no fear.

First... don't get caught up in power rating. I started with 60wch ss to 250wch ss to 100wpc pp tube and now 18wpc SET. I see that your room is quite large but your Klipsch RF-3 efficient is higher than most speaker so yes 40w to 50w will do fine. You know what if you don't play your system very loud than 8w SET might do.

Also, I know that your budget is small. Like I said before wait and save some more... strave if you have to so you could buy something nice that will last. That what I did and I'm still using the amps.

Here are my recommendation. I have heard some of these at store or show.

1. Used C-J, VTL, Manley tube amp.
2. New Quick Silver 25wpc which are $1000 per pair
3. ASL which sound nice at the show. Forgot which model.
4. Lastly if you could get by with 8wpc SET and you solder than check out Welborne Lab. Ron is closing out the old line. Great price. You will be surprise of what SET can do.

Anyway hope this help. By the way are you in NYC area? If you do I could loan you my Welborne Labs Apollo 18wpc SET for a day so you could see if you could live with lower power. I'm sure you will love how SET sound.
