Mounting a resistor on pin 8 of an EL84

I am thinking of using pin 8 of the el84 tube socket to mount a grid resistor on the suppressor grid of pin 9. The tube manual shows that p8 is IC or internally connected. So I wanted to know if that IC tag means it is not for any kind of connections. thanx in advance, Dak
