Hi
I think it's unfortunate that some posts to this thread take such a negative bias to your experiences with the Sovtek tubes. I too own an AIM 3A. I currently do use the 6H23 from Upscale Audio, and enjoy them quite a bit. But until then, I had found that the standard Sovtek 6922 was my tube of choice. I had rolled other tubes from Telefunken, Amprerex, Edicron, Siemmens, and others that I can't quite recall. All of them had some positive attribute to the sound, but overall did not perform better then the Sotek 6922. These findings were exclusively in the line stage portion of my AI. I still used some Edicron 7dh8's in the phono stage. Personally I have never understood why others have used NOS tubes with the AI, unless they needed a very specific "sound" to blend with the rest of the system. I know this isn't the most popular opinion, but in my experiences the Sovteks are the best overall performer for the AI.Regards
