Too often, people extole the virtues of tubes so rare and exotic that one can no longer obtain like for trial. Certain special dates of manufacture are "sold out", complete matched sets are "not available", or 'dealers' are "a friend", one-time e-bay vendors, etc, etc. If you like the NOS 6H23's in your AI Mod 3A, which vintage and make are they, and where can I get them NOW? I know you would agree that those sent me by UA blow in my rig. Mine were labled "1980's, Type 3", supposedly especially selected for AI and CAT. Like I said, the stock AI 6922 Sovteks are far superior to the examples I tried. No kidding. And I'm someone who uses live acoustic music as a comparison, uses 2A3 SET mono-blocks, Ortofon MC3000 Mk II, etc.
