Both of these PCC88/7DJ8 tubes are labelled Telefunken. However, the one on the left was actually manufactured by Siemens with the seamed top, number molded in the bottom of the glass while the other is of Telefunken manufacture with diamond bottom and typical TFK getter construction.
It really is very difficult to tell the players apart sometimes without a score card.
As another poster stated, Philips was the first to develop the ECC88/6DJ8 family of tubes and the differences between various brands are sometimes subtle. In the case of the Matsuhita E88CC/6922 we have a tube made in Japan with British (Mullard) tooling in a style very similar to Siemens. Confusing, indeed.
