Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |
|
just picked up a eico hf-89 that someone started back in the sixteys
but never finished the trannies and most of the hardware is mounted
a little of the wireing is started no caps or resistors in yet came with all of the n.o.s caps ,tubes everything even the manual and box total complete kit looks like it came out of a time machine the only old tube amp i have ever seen brand new
what i was wondering should i upgrade the wire, caps, resistor, to new higher grade modern stuff if so any suggestions on what sounds the best? any mods or things that might improve sound quality i have not seen much about eico on the net i own a hf-87 it sounds better than the ether one of my dynaco 70s one stock one with a upgrade board
any thoughts please let me know
thanks Tony
