I am currently listening to the ESL57 driven by the Wright 2A3 monos,
forget about large orchestral; "the battle" off Gladiator OST is best heard on the Pipedreams, but on female vocal, chamber jazz or classical - simply divine. Timbre is gorgeous, rich & enveloping. When you drive the tiny amps too hard, the sound becomes hard & brittle, back off & the magic resumes.I also have Quad II, EAR 509 & VAC PA 100 amps - which are all much more dynamic, louder but lack the organic naturalness that the SET provides. Sony SACD, Pioneer DVD/MSB, ARC LS 2 preamp.
room size: 25' x 20 x 8 opening up to 11' high. This is our home office system, so we don't listen to music loud here. Playing music quietly with such resolution is a great joy.
