Keep in mind that the circuitry the tube is installed in will have a large impact on overall tone. So I don't doubt for a second that you didn't hear a difference. But it's not because they are the same tube.

Thank you for the compliment - I try not to come across as a "know-it-all". But I do have the advantage of lots of experience with tube stuff, and lots of nice folks who provide me with feedback about their tubes, etc. Thanks for your take on the situation too, much appreciated!
