True KT-77's also have a much more elaborate mica spacer sheet, with many more "fingers". This cuts down on microphonics and helps center the tube structure more securely. J.C. Morrison, the former tube designer for New Sensor, pointed out to me the modern practice of using metal staples to center the mica sheets actually causes some microphonics as the metal will ring.
I have a number of KT-77's of various vintages. The older ones certainly display a greater number of mica fingers. As the dies for stamping the micas were quite expensive and time consuming to make, the mica shapes become much more simpler in design as time does on.
