If you're referring to NOS XF1/XF2...

...I fully agree with your findings. Some of the recent posts claiming that new production "slams" NOS I think are just a lot of iconoclastic hyperbole. While there certainly has been a lot of improvement in new production tubes and some are pretty darn good, given a choice (and assuming I've got the $$), from a sonic perspective I'll take NOS British, Dutch and Japanese EL34s every time. Same with KT66s and 88s and 5AR4s (inc NOS GE/Syl). And GE and Syl 6L6GC and TS 5881 and 6550. The glitch with these tubes is scarcity...matched pairs and quads are tough.

Bottom line: Bet you don't get many offers to relieve persons of their stash of dull old Mullards.
