the GTR-400 is a tuner preamp..While its just ok and not great,it is not a practical application to use with an HF-81.You said Eico 81 so I assume you meant the HF-81..The HF-81 has a very nice preamp section in it so it makes no sense to use the GTR-400 with it..If you want it for just the tuner,I would find a stand alone that you can use.
