John, I can't figure out why you'd have trouble. Here's my "secret" technnique:1. Spray some DeOxit 5% on the pin/socket/etc. Don't drown the stuff, but use enough to wet it.
2. Wipe it off after a few seconds.
3. Use the tube/socket/etc.
I don't use ProGold. DeOxit is good up to 200 degrees C which is plenty good enough for audio tubes and sockets. I have used it on literally thousands of tubes and sockets with no problem at all. None, zero, zilch, nil.
Any clues in what I wrote?
