Re: Excess line voltage can kill an amp

Sure, you can't load the main source having a low internal impedance but for supplies from isolating transformers, (all my systems have independent transformers), an AVO can alter the measured voltages.
So, the voltages inside an equipment can also be altered with different types of meters.

Literally 500V (maybe, can tolerate up to +6% voltage is OK for 485V operation(besides it's hard to find electrolytic cap of higher voltage), not necessarily perfect, but the safety margin is a bit low. For electrical item, the norm is to have 10 to 20% spare margin in terms of insulation voltage and current, Take for example, 380V equipment to have 660V BIL(basic insulation level)

Most of the time, I would like to have measurement on line current to the equipment before/after restoration to see what achievement has been made.
