I have listened to them in both that amp and a SLA-70 Sig amp. I prefer the sound of the Svetlana KT88, the Tung-Sol 6550, the JJ E34L, and of course the Mullard EL34. That is listed in increasing order of musical bliss. I found the EL34 types to be more musical in those amps, sorry for the bad news. You can try running the 90's at higher settings and see how you like it. Cary makes that assertion to balance reliability and sound, according to them. In contrast to some raves you will hear about the 90's reliability-if they make it through the first ten hours-I don't think that they are exceptionally reliable, from my experience. Check the archives here for the good and bad news. Contrary to Kevin Deal's raves, they are not a super-tube by any means. I had some fizzle out and I know of several others who did as well. I have no reason to believe that they were abusing the tubes. They were audio guys, not guitarists ;).
