Well I take the point, but there probably is a better chance if the boxes carry the same date code or batch number.All manufacturers batch-tested their products, and on the results of these tests, batches were passed or rejected. Now if this methodology was felt statistically to be sound, it also follows that there is a better than even chance that the valves in any given bath will be relatively closely matched - note "relatively". The few sleeves that I have bought have actually been quite exceptional in this regard - on the valve tester at least.
Robert is entirely correct when he says that the only way to match is to match. The other important factor to bear in mind is that the valves should be matched IN the circuit for which they are intended! Also it is wise not to lose sight of what one is matching for....
