I went ahead and picked up a quad of KT88-SC. VERY NICE TUBES!
While I won't be rushing to sell my NOS Tung Sol 6550's, they are one of the very few current made tubes that are worth listening to.
They are as good or better than the re-issue GL KT88. The mid range is definitely more lush, the highs are nice and clear, and the bass is very tight for tubes.
For those who have the GL re-issues, if you have not tried the Penta KT88SC, give them a try. You may find that they better suit your needs.
