I have had only one situation requiring a negative feedback on Ebay. I went ahead and posted it knowing full and well I may receive one, unjustifiably, in return. I felt obligated to do this to help protect other potential buyers. It was clearly a situation where the seller sold me a defective item. He claimed it occured during shipping but after sending the unit to a technician, this was impossible. Well, the long and short of it was he only retaliated with a neutral feedback. As a suggestion, I usually try to get the other person to post their feedback first. Then I post mine. Again, I have had only one significant problem in hundreds of transactions. But the "post your feedback second" approach gives some protection. The other thing accomplished is that you are guaranteed your deserved feedback before you post yours on the other party. Some people never give feedback and so I try not to give them feedback.
As far as Mr. Spafford, I have had no direct dealings with him so I am not in a position to comment on any personal experiences. However, I am a bit surprised that you didn't get specific information on the tubes such as how many of what specific brand. If you did then disregard the last line. :)
Finally, your outcome is a bit surprising given that Mr. Spafford's feedback was rather good save the most recent negative feedbacks. This is a bit puzzling.
Regardless, I hope everything works out for both you and Mr. Spafford in a mutually beneficial way.
