Eric,sorry, i can't answer your question directly, but regarding the bass of the 805C. i can say that it probably isn't too much of an improvement. i have a 805C mated with a 92.5dB speakers, and the bass is loose and murky. it is very obvious after i A/B compared it with a SS amp. however, as you said, the mids and highs are magical.
i am testing out a new pre-amp (FS Presence) with a better bass response than my current crappy one. hopefully that will help. i also noticed that the 805C comes with WE 300B as a second stage driver, the 300B is known to be lacking in the frequency extremes. i am contemplating switching to KR 300B. not sure yet though.
the Cary dealer in HK is giving up distributing Cary, i got a pair of 805C from them recently, they are selling them cheap to get rid of them. you better hurry!
