My gain setting is usually below the 12 o'clock mark. I have a solid state amp that dosen't need much gain. I bought some Tungsram's from Kevin and liked the way they sounded, but like I said they didn't last long. Maybe I got a couple of marginal tubes. I'm glad to hear about your success with your A.I. and hope it continues. I like the detail of the pre-amp but I find it a little dry compared to some of the other tube amps I have listened to. That is why I was hoping that some good NOS tubes would do the trick. By some of the responses that came up it dosen't sound to promising. Thanks for the heads up on your set up.
