I don't know the equipment BUT given the usual hi voltage of @ 450V, the bias current for EL34 & KT77 will range from @ -35 to -43V. For 6L6 the bias voltage range will be @ -45 to -54V. Plugging 6L6 into a circuit whose bias voltage is set for EL34 will result in extremely high current draw and possible red-plate & fuse popping. IF the amp has sufficient bias range to allow 6L6 use then maybe you can get away with it. Yes, get in contact with the manufacturer before trying such an experiment. Nobody wants to see your amp go up in smoke.
