Sheesh,
I came looking for an answer and I now have even more questions. It seems that noise must now become one of my primary concerns. Sure, it would be great if I could try out 10 different amps with these speakers but I don't know how to begin arranging it. Most of the dealers I know don't carry a wide selection of tube gear and those who do want BIG dollars and don't smile on switching out every weekend to try plan b, c, and d.
One thing is for sure, I am no longer going to take a chance with the amp I originally posted about. If I do not like it and/or it is too noisy I will have no chance to return it.
I have seen other threads on this list about the best choices for amplifying these speakers but the most recent post was over two years ago and the more relevant ones were four years ago. How about we refresh the topic:
WHAT DO YOU CONSIDER TO BE THE BEST AMP FOR THE AVANTGARDE DUOS?
I understand that opinions are just that...opinions. Now having said that please consider:
1. Noise level
2. Run the Duos full range or Tri-amp?
3. Digital amps vs. solid state vs. vaccum tube
4. Assuming Tube amp...SET vs. Push-PullAllright.....SPILL.
