I have a pair of Avantgarde Duos on the way and a great opportunity to trade some gear for a set of Western Electric Gotham 300B Tube monos that are push pull parallel @ 45W. The set is a beauty and it uses 6 x 300B's, 2 x 6SN7GTB's and 2 x 5U4GB's per channel. It is a no-brainer deal on this amp but will it make the Avantgarde's sing or is it simply too much power for a speaker that is 104db efficient?I could go SET but I am worried that 8 Watts or less will be enough to drive these speakers to real world levels and scary dynamic peaks without any distortion. I also listen to Rock and Roll a lot and I have never owned a really low power amp so I am concerned. Can anyone offer any advice?
