Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ

VT-52 or a 45 diy SE

I am seeking general advice from someone who has experience working with a vt-52 an a 45 diy single ended amp.I have a few of these tubes an thinking of building some amps but i don,t know how the sound of a well built vt-52 amp(on a fair budget) would differ from a 45.I do know the 45 is a low powered triode of only 1.6 to 2 watts an the vt-52 maybe 4.5?. Low power does not bother me since i will have efficent speakers an my listening room is small. Also what would be a good driver tube for a direct coupled circuit for both of these triodes. Any advice would be a great help.
