Breakin could be a factor. The GE 6SN7s were new and could be why I didn't get any improvement (not to mention GE 6SN7s don't get very high regard) but the Mullard 12AX7s I tried were out of another piece of gear, therefore were broken in. I replaced my MV55 with a Pass Aleph 3. Since I have gotten the Pass all uge for amplifier changes have gone away (going on 10 months now!) except the ocasional daydreams of some huge, overly expensive (ie: can't afford) 845 based SET amps.
