Depleted stock is more like it. NOS 6550 Tung Sol's run around $100 or so each. I've settled for the Svetlana's which do quite nicely for me. (Retubed the whole thing for $88.) However, an inexpensive replacement for the 12AX7's, that I'll spring for. You can tailor your tubes to suit your taste.
