The original post was about an 845 SET amp, if i understood correctly.Yes, for a 45 with 1 1/2 Watts 98 dB would be recommended. A 2A3 set with 3 1/2 watts would love that sensitive of a speaker as well.
But most of the 845 Amps I have seen or heard produce about 20+ Watts, which should be quite happy with 90 dB speakers, assuming they don't have wild impedance curves, etc.
I just don't think speaker sensitivity would be an issue with the 845.
