Check out the following link for schematics of popular guitar amplifiers (mostly vintage). I don't think you'd have too much trouble using your GZ34 in the power supply instead of silicon diodes. You just have to make sure you don't go over the limit on the input capacitance allowable for the gz34. Or consider something like the marshall JTM 45 that uses a tube rectifier. A tube rectified jtm45 with kt66's would be mighty nice, imo (think early clapton). Oh, and a vintage partridge output tranny if you can find one.
