My 12yo son wanted music for his room so I built him a pair of MurphyBlaster OW1s and gave him my old Creek amp. He uses it all the time and really appreciates the sound. He even commented once on how "flat" the XM sound was on my tube system, so he does hear the difference. He also plays electric guitar and wants a tube amp for that, he's so good on guitar I might have to buy him one. I don't trust myself building something that would be electrically attached to him. Today I came home and he was playing "Purple Haze" for me. Not quite Hendrix yet, but I can barely strum a chord and he learned this in the past year. Other songs in his repetoire include "Layla", "Stairway to you know where" and every Green Day song. He also solos in his school's jazz band.
I like to think all my building and listening had an influence.
