Re: Advice needed on Edcor push-pull outputs

Yo. Whatsup?

Awesome. You should totally do an All Edcor design to help them
plug their new product offering.

Either a 7600 or 5000 ohm load will work with the 45/71A. The higher
plate load option will give you a higher damping factor, lower distortion but also slightly lower (but not that much lower) power.

There's another reason to bias my prejudice to the 7.6K load. More
interesting options! Here's why. With a 7.6K load, you can also
do the EL84, the 6V6 and the ECC99. These tubes have much lower
Vg-g drive requirements than the 45. In fact, these three tubes I mentioned can be driven full kilter with about 15V on the grid. As
it turns out, we are pretty confident that the Edcor 10K:10K can
move those 15V, while I'm not sure (without measurement) that it can
move the 100V needed to move 71A's or 45s.

If you need power, do PPP ECC99's. 10W Class A. Only need to cough
up 150V and 75mA to power them. Only need to swing 4V, which means
you can use an Edcor 600/10K (1:2 stepup).

The 6V6 is another nice option. Lots people say GOOD THINGS about
6V6 in triode. In this case, try the other guys 10K:10K idea with a
parafed coupled driver... A low Rp, medium mu driver is needed here. 5687, ECC99, that kinda stuff.

If you're really cheap, get some 6AQ5s. Wired as triode, they are
6V6s. They are very cheap and out there!
