Home Tube DIY Asylum

Do It Yourself (DIY) paradise for tube and SET project builders.

thanks for FOOD for THOUGHT

You have given me many things to ponder. My last project was the cool little DIYTube's ST35/EL84 kit. Pretty straight forward with much hand holding. Not a ton of decision to make, but it ended up fantastic. The MQ 565 OPT with nickel pinstriping are one of the best features of that last amp.

From your description the bottom line seems to decide on the basics of circuit approachs paying particular attention to feedback schemes, making the power supply incredibly stable and responsive and to decide which mode to run the tubes in....

I need to do more research, but I think UL mode is the 30 to 40W per channel power I seek. Triode mode would be half that. Might be nice to be able to switch between these modes ala Cary stuff.

My goal is to put together a real head turner with around 30w/channel. Speakers are Merlin VSM-MM with Superbam.
